Subject: cover crop question...educate me,.. dont bash..educate

North Central Kansas
location..north central ks
livestock use....NO
rainfall.......decent to dry
crop rotation: wheat, wheat, beans or corn, milo, beans, then notill wheat into the stubble.

With that said. since we are in a drought, and I won't graze it off for cattle. What sense does it make for me to put a cover crop in after wheat, let it grow, kill it and plant my fall wheat. Or put any cover crop in for that matter if I am hurting on moisture. Will it save me moisture, Im sure it will. But if it don't rain, then it takes away my moisture.
Also what if weeds develop, how can I kill the weeds and not injury the cover crop??
