East Central Ia | I feel it's to slow to react and would definitely lean towards hydraulic downforce if an automatic system is preferred.
That being said I think a manual air system is light years ahead of springs and can be set very good easily and quickly by a good operator.
If I was to do it again I would not get the active downforce.
My biggest complaint is that it treats the whole planter as one control section. It averages the sensors and controls according to that. I really noticed it being somewhat of a problem this year as we applied all of our nh3 this spring which left some mellow spots that would throw the air system a bit of a curveball.
This is on a 36r20" planter which is probably worse than a 30' or 40' planter, and nh3 tracks are on 30" spacings.
