Subject: RE: Ontario planting problems

Near-north Ontario, French River
Different drill but same problem. We have a GP drill that had the same issues. The solution is to add weight. We fabbed a weight bracket for the drill and hung , I believe ,16 suitcase weights on the coulter to help it penetrate. We picked up the weights for $10 a piece at an auction. Other option is to add a liquid tank to the drill, check your local dealer for old used liquid fert systems, fill it with water and go. If this is a reoccurring problem go the suitcase route, if upon think you will remove the weights on a regular basis go with the water tank. To remove weight just drain the tank. If you are lifting the frame off the ground you're probably needing 1500lbs minimum.
