Subject: RE: Semi Truck Licensing for CDL'd and non CDL'd drivers

Anderson County Kansas
Its a lot different. Like I said its the standard drivers license test everyone takes, no air brakes or anything. There is also no walk around test also no medical card or anything required. The only difference from a regular drivers license is I had to drive the truck.

I'm not saying if farmers should be required to have a CDL or not, I was just pointing out the fact they don't have to have one. My son is graduating college, and is coming home to farm and will be driving the truck hauling grain a lot. He has been just hauling from the field to the bins with a regular drivers license. I am going to have him get his CDL, not non commercial Class A just because I think its only a matter of time before we have to have them anyway. I also think passing the walk around and air brakes will be good for him.
