Wi

I could be mistaken but around here RV insurance is substantially cheaper than when you are actually doing work with your vehicle.

Registration is higher as are restrictions, otherwise I would be on the small single axle semi bandwagon as well versus using pickups. In WI though we can be farm to 36k and single axle semi's put us over that versus pickups keeping us more under the radar. Not that we are running anything illegal, just less headaches for now.  Our LML Duramax's have been very reliable.

Also comparing pricing on fixing an older FLD with an old N14 or S60 Detroit to an 08 6.7 is not entirely fair. Repair costs on a late 90s Cummins Ram were much lower than you never one and I don't think you want to see the costs to keep an 08 semi running.
