Subject: RE: Glyphosate and germination

NW Central Ohio
...you're spraying about half a liter of glyphosate per acre...broadcasting it no less, and seem to think the acid from the chemical is strong enough to effect germination in the seed zone that you're planting in? I haven't seen it. Neither have I ever heard any other person say they believe it's a factor in emergence. It occurs to me that we apply almost 1000 kilos of lime to soil...and it won't react with the millions of kilos of soil in an acre furrow slice enough to create a poor germination environment. I would have to have more evidence that an "acidic environment" is being created by the plants around their roots before I believed it was the cause for poor emergence.
