Subject: RE: Corn demand, historic

Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow
While I agree we can't know what might happen to demand in the near future I checked historic export data. Last week we exported 1.599 million MT. That number has only been approached twice since 1990. Last fall's 1.9 million was due to the reporting of the three week total during the government shutdown. It would have been in the neighborhood of 600,000.

10/24/2013 1,915,090 /3= 638,000
1/11/1990 1,579,082
12/12/1996 1,574,676
4/18/1996 1,548,617
9/21/1995 1,546,696
1/18/1990 1,544,329

I'm not sure that those fellows in the Northern Midwest need to worry too much if this demand continues at this rate. In fact with just a few more weeks of this and the USDA will need to lower carryout again.
The situation for corn exports is beginning to resemble that for soybeans earlier.
