Wheat is the easiest crop in the world to grow and a lot of guys get a crop in spite of what they do. You can plant it with a stick but a seedbed helps a lot. If I had to farm under the restriction that if I pulled anything across a field but a no till drill and a sprayer or suffer the consequences of never getting to heaven I would stick the drill in the ground and go over the field about 3-4 times and the last pass put seed in the drill. Cold wet hard ground is not a good seedbed and generally provides for poor germination, slow growth and a feast for wireworms.

Farming is a lot like going on a cruise ship that only comes by once a year and if you miss the boat you have to wait till next year and you never get to see where that ship went. You farm in what I consider the Garden of Eden so I would give your crop the best chance it can have.

The above is not meant to bash or be critical but a little lecture I have in the back of my head after missing a boat or two myself. The best to you POKEY.
