Subject: JD Can Authentication failed


I have a customer that has a JD 8360R series tractor with Fmx/nav 2 Autosteer, and been working great for this year and last year until the tractor began throwing fault codes. The JD Tech had came out to upgrade the "controllers and "computers and they told us we had to have the Trimble Nav2 updated to the latest software before the tractor would communicate with the Autopilot. Now after the Nav2 got updated to 5.30 (released April 3 2014) the fault code still comes back. Code 178 "JD CAN AUTHENTICATION FAILED". I look into the Autopilot Diagnostics menu under CAN messages and an exit code of 57 appears stating that the wrong serial number is present. Does the JD tech need to re-flash software, or down grade the NAV2 back to a lower version?
