Subject: Forward contracting some beans.

Beresford, SD

Has anyone been thinking about pulling the trigger on some new crop sales.  I have nothing on the books for 2014.  I like to dump my beans at harvest and purchase corn (trade) for feed during harvest.  In the past I've been 10 to 20% beans, This year I'm more 50/50 (too many issues raising corn 5-8 years in a row).  Ran some numbers: With the current bid for fall delivery beans X APH = $35/acre over COP.  Should I start making a few sales?  What are your thoughts?  Thankful I feed cattle to pay the bills because my bean crop would barely cover our families health insurance/deductible costs for the year.
