The only people who should be writing letters to anyone about crop insurance are the nonfarming tax payers who pay 40 - 60% of our premium so that we can be guaranteed to break even or in some cases make a very good profit. With early seeding, timely rains and warm but not t0o hot temps and a late frost- I have the POTENTIAL to raise 80 bushel spring wheat, 150 bu corn, 45 bu soys and 2500# edible beans, canola or sunflowers. Does that mean RMA should insure me for close to that, of course not!!!! Some years we freeze early or can't seed till late May etc and we have poor crops which give us a PROVEN AVERAGE and we are able to buy insurance based on what we can reasonably expect for yields. It absolutely amazes me how some people can whine about such a sweetheart deal as we are given with subsidized crop insurance and continue to put their hand out and beg "gimme, gimme, gimme".
