Have you seen what week old calves are bringing now? Most are bring 2$ and some over 3$ per pound. Then the big question is do you have a market for 300-350 pound calves?

The trick to make money is to push the calves hard and to get them on calf grain asap. I feed my calves a expensive 22 - 20 milkreplacer with decox and biomos that is 86$ per bag for 4-5 weeks. I just keep them on a bottle, because it easier and the calves are healther. I try to offer a 21% calf grain with rumensin and water within the first week. Feed as much calf grain as they will eat. Once they start on calf grain good they don't need the milkreplacer. Once they hit the 6- 8 week mark you could probably switch them to a little cheaper grain mix, but keep the protein up so you can grow their frame.

Personally I'm selling my bull calves over 90lbs because I'll take a $200+ check for a week old calf vs raising it and hoping to make the same amount. I just don't see the profit being there personally.
