Subject: RE: Deep Freeze Question

I have both, well, only one now that the chest one died. The stays better in the chest freezer with the manual defrost. I am not sure if you can even get a chest freezer that is frost free, the uprights are usually frost free. What I found that works with the chest freezers is before you put food in them, spray them with PAM spray and then when there is an ice build up you can take a wide putty knife and carefully get under the ice and it pops off. Just don't jam it into the sides and make a hole. You can get more food in a chest freezer too. Just make sure to be organized so you know where things go. My son and daughter have a dry wipe board on top of theirs and as they put things in they write on the board what is in there and as they take things out they adjust the number. That way they know what they have. Just like I was surprised what I found in my upright while making room for the meat.
