Central Iowa

In my backyard I see the worst erosion from field cultivators and washing in the planted rows, wheel tracks. marker tracks etc. The fields are so black after all the fall and spring tillage there is no protective cover, nothing to slow down the forces of heavy rainfall. The field cultivator is then used to fill emphemeral gullies, the damage then "disappears". None of these farmers use a row crop cultivator. This is in the Des Moines lobe.
