Being a victim of this a time or 3 over the years if the engine was making high RPM'S when the door closes it at least pulled the blowers seal inside out.
The problem why it ran away is still there to find. I would guess rack rod going into one or more injectors is stuck from bad fuel and gum.
Pull valve covers and wiggle the rod in the injector and if its tight that injector is stuck. You can also disconnect the pins from the Govenor and see if its a problem to only 1 bank.
The control rack should move free threw the travel range and the spring should bring them to the no fuel position.
Hope it did not throw the Govenor weights or Rods out.
