Subject: RE: thawing out sewer line

WC IL
Had to thaw mine a few weeks ago. Used a sewer jet tip on the hot water washer. Took me about 3 minutes to get through 4 feet of ice. The outlet end is wanting to freeze again. Have about 12" of exposed PVC at the end. The water from the combustion chamber of the furnace goes into sewer, when it hits the exposed part of the pipe it starts to freeze, then builds up overnight. Been ruuning the faucet about 30 minutes every morning to clear. Talked to furnace guy, he said as cold as it is the furnace is probably making close to 10 gallons of water a day.
