when its well below zero with a hard wind in 15 minutes after shutting off you would need to use ether if not plugged in. in the situation of the original poster I would simply leave it plugged in. not because i am lazy, but i am getting a little fat. for the jobs i have done over the last decade i can easily call you lazy and with the response you made i can easily call you an idiot but i wont.
