The element is not that hot when the engine is running because coolant is always flowing by it. If engine vibration was a problem for it, it would ruin it with the engine running and block heater not plugged in. I do the same thing as OP, When loading out my engine block heater stays plugged in all day long. Helps the cool running engine start warm and run warmer. Have never replaced a block heater in 37 years from leaving it plugged in while starting up engine or leaving it running. I do replace cords every few years.
