Defeats what purpose? His purpose was a brighter light that lasts longer. 

Adding resistors is STUPID!!!! Just replace the flasher unit and leave the wires alone. Why do extra work when the proper parts are available for a reasonable price.


I agree there, usually a lot easier to replace flasher.
