I am in the same thought process(haven't done it yet either), so I am interested in the response. My thoughts are; 1)money cannot replace my wife and kids and I don't need the money if they are gone, no policy on them. 2)my debt on my assets are manageable now and will be no less when I pass=no need for insurance to pay debt. 3)I know we can't predict what the government will do, but what I do want insurance for is to cover the estate taxes to keep our assets intact. Especially if my kids want to farm someday. Why should they have to put additional equity up to keep operating! So for say a 45% estate tax I am thinking I want a policy that has a pay out equal to at least half of my assets. These are just questions I have and maybe you do or should also. Answers welcome!
