King City, Mo | My dog is a granddaughter of a good cow dog a neighbor had. I got her as a pup 8 weeks old. I took her to chore every morning in the truck. Every day toget into the pattern.
I would go out after supper and play with her in the yard and make her sit, stay, lay, jump, and go get it for a treat or a scrap.
I didnt know what I was doing when it came to training the dog to help with cows but we do alright me and her and a few on the wrong side of the fence she is priceless to have.
One pasture I feed hay close to the blacktop and the cows all gather at the gate when i go to put out hay. She runs the cows back for me there. She got rolled by a bull one morning. Came limping to the truck, she stayed in the truck a few weeks and then a little hesitant but got back on it and bites at the cows nose and heels again.
She got rolled by a tractor and baler once, and a pickup once too..
It is amazing how a farmer can scream and holler and cows stand there and look at you, kick the dog outta the truck and they go..
She's my buddy and always ready for a drive.
