I've tried some no-til and the problem I had when the cover was like yours, but not rolled, was to get the ground dry & warm enough in the spring.
I'm puzzled by this comment with you being in SE Texas near the coast. There should be plenty of time to delay planting a couple weeks so it would be warmer and drier?
Need some no-till reassurance...[pics]
