Maybe the engine and transmission will do 15,000 hours without an overhaul (never see them with hlf that around here), but what about the rest of the tractor? My experience with high hour tractors is that they are fine for 2nd and 3rd line duties where you are not depending on them because you are always chasing little problems, the seat is worn out, the cab is falling to bits, the rear linkage is worn out, the drawbar is sloppy, the control buttons keep stopping working and it goes on.



I guess I assume anyone with a high hour tractor expects those things. We had an 8120 with almost 9,000 hours when it left, and of course it had little things here and there like you describe (we had to spend some money on the seat), but it always did what it was asked (it was my main tractor) and we got $11,000 more for it on trade than we paid for it. That many hours in a seat will tear it up, for sure.
