Subject: Re: Vertical tillage-superfarmer questions

Ontario Canada
We are running a Sunflower 6630 and it will chop up the stalks quite well in the fall time and leave a fair bit of dirt mixed in to help it break down over the winter, yes I am running it deeper in the fall but by spring time I can run it fairly shallow and have a nice seedbed, we are on mainly sandier soils with some loam. I like the job it does and yes it is much like a disc BUT I like the fact that the harrows are mounted on the machine and don't have to haul a packer or crumbler behind it and it will chop stalks and bury them well if wanted, yes its called a vertical till machine but I use it instead of having a disc and pulling something behind it, just convenience for me and I can run it a little faster and it also does a nice level job.
