small town Iowa....
Did this planter work O.K. last year? Did you do something to the planter since last planting season?
If you dig up seed, are all the 2" and 12" spacings consistent in all rows? All in the same position?
What is the condition of your row unit and insecticide drive chains?
Normally if the clutch is bad, there will be a skip on all rows, not the 2" and 12" spaces.
BUT, if there isn't enough drag on the units, I can see the clutch jumping over, causing a whipping action
on the drives. I know I will get blasted on this comment, but, when I adjust 7000 units, it takes a good effort
to turn the unit by hand. This puts enough drag on to get a steady, not a jerky rotation.
I have worked on hundreds of 7000 planters, never seen this.
Keep us posted. I am really curious about this.
