Wi
200* is fine, they run that temp often behind the Duramax. At 25-30k it should have a new spin on filter put on at this point. There is no traditional "flush" for the allison and those who have tried this method sometimes screw things up. There is an alternative method however. Allison only reccomends drain and refill.

It is normal for it to sometimes downshift when not in tow/haul.

The laboring part could be an engine issue. A lot of what you are describing sounds like something may be wrong with your engine and the transmission is attempting to compensate for it but this may be only part of the issue or none. Is the engine in good running condition with all things serviced on it?

What type of "computer" is being hooked up? Many cheaper scanners will NOT read the allison codes as they are a seperate module and most just read the ECM. You will need a more advanced scanner or Tech II to read them. With one of these tools the mechanic can also run the transmission through a series of tests manually operating each gear and solenoids frequently in an attempt to generate a fault code for what may be causing the issue. Not all codes request a MIL. Many of the transmission codes do not request one.

This does not sound like an NSBU issue which is the switch garvo is referring to. If you notice clunking or banging when shifting from forward to reverse, nuetral while driving, or the little shift indicator light missing in the display, then the NSBU should be swapped. THey are only $80, however it does not sound like this is your issue.

Try to find a good competant allison mechanic if possible, they tend to be a tougher nut for some to crack especially old mechanics set in their ways.
