Southern MN | Two grand would probably fix most of those issues. I would probably take the two grand, but not part ways. I would continue to do business with that dealer (assuming this is the only lemon they sold). The dealer probably looked it over as well as you did, and you didn't notice those issues while it was sitting on the lot. Legally the dealer probably doesn't have to do anything for you, but they are offering a peace offering which is nice.
My rule of thumb is to expect to pay up to 10% of the purchase price in repairs and improvements to bring used equipment up to my standards. That may seem high, but if you have that in mind when negotiating, you'll end up at a price where you're okay with doing some repairs. | |
