Subject: banjo venturi inductor help

NW Pa.
Just put on a 2" venturi inductor on my tender. Its very slow sucking the chemical down. I have the pump running full power. It take 10 min to pull 50gal? I do have 60' of hose on a reel. Appreciate some help thanks.

what kind of pump you got on it? Horspower? The more head pressure you have slower it is. If your pump is undersized horspower wise it will be slow.

I think the problem might be the 60 feet of hose after the inductor.

Do you have pictures? It should suck 30 gallons out of an inductor in a minute or so.

You should just plumb your Chem. inductor ahead of your pump. No venturi needed, just close down the valve ahead of the pump, a little bit, and it will suck down 50
gallons of chem., in less than 20 seconds. I've been doing this for years, and now going to add another tank to recirculate and mix dry AMS, before the pump.

Where do you have inductor? I have always mounted my inductors with a venturi after the pump. Current setup is two 2500 gal tanks feeding 5hp Honda motor/banjo pump, thru chemductor with venturi and out thru hose reel to the sprayer. Chemductor empties as fast as I can pour product in.

I think your venturi is backwards. Little end is on the feed side. Big end is discharge.

Cannot tell from pic but is arrow on Venturi pointing the direction you want flow to go? Looks like same chemductor/ Venturi as mine, but opposite direction. Could be assembled differently.

I went and looked at mine, it is plumbed the same way. Were you shutting the valve on the other side of the venturi to make all the water pass through the venturi?

Those work well and they will take a lot of product as fast as you can dump it in the funnel.

mine is the same as Jedeka picture also.. doesn't make since to me but been that way for years... you would think it would work better the other way but..... thats how it was labeled.. i never had to much trouble drawing out of inductor... however this year started with a new to us sprayer..it is a bottom fill, old sprayer was a side fill both summer's.... the bottom fill does not draw out of the inductor as well, and is harder to push water into 1500 gal. tank....wish they would have put a top fill port on top

Here are pics of my pump before inductor and hose reel after the inductor that is mounted below the trailer floor. I am filling 800 gal tank on Rogator without any problems. Had similar Venturi on a smaller chemductor tank that filled our old 1200 gal pull sprayer without problems.

I would pull the clamps off the Venturi and check for an obstruction. Had it happen once.

I bet you have an obstruction, I don't run a reel, but I imagine my hose is 25 feet. I do not think length would matter. I am plumbed 3". I bet you have a rock or something in there.

There is a significant amount of friction loss in 60' of hose but I can't see it should take 10 minutes I've loaded over 70 gallon of product into a 750 gallon sprayer and still had to add more water

Check for air leaks on fittings and hoses, etc. If it sucks any air it will be slow

I would bet it is a plastic seal from the top of a jug stuck in the little hole in the bottom. I've seen that happen before. Another thing to think about is you have sharp angles pretty much right before and right after your eductor. Could be losing some pressure there, too.

I have two 3000 gal tanks on my trailor and dang I don't have near the fittings as you, but my mixing tank, don't know what an inductor is, but mine is in front of pump or teed into line going in to pump and it will empty 35 gal in a few seconds.

Canada
Some sprayers filter before going into tank and if the screen mesh is to small it restricts to much and will cause venturi to suck slow . Easy way to find out is is you can just run pure water do not hook up to sprayer let run out ,fill chem handler with water and see how fast it sucks out should be very fast with no restriction

+1 When my screen on the sprayer starts getting plugged, got a new old tank last year with some green growth in it, it won't pull from the inductor for nothing. Check your inlet screen.

If the narrow neck needs to go before inductor, then Banjo sticker is wrong in numbers I believe. Bought one at farm sale preassembled with arrow on venturi as first poster displayed. Didn't suck out so put ahead of pump to make it work. Tech at Banjo dumbfounded. Bought another on sale over winter and haven't tested yet
