I think the hour or two would be a good call if it was off the tiller. I'm a bit scared about what it's going to take to get it off the tiller, simply since the drive pullys have probably been on the since it was built in 84. It's setup such that getting to them with a puller looks to be interesting. But I haven't torn into that yet. Best case scenario - I could have the engine off and sitting on my bench in 30 minutes. The way my lucks been going with this thing, I don't want to think about worst case.

Appreciate the suggestions so far everyone! I've now got a reason to visit Harbor Freight / Northern Tool today. That always makes for a better day. I'm guessing they have quite a few of the things mentioned.
