Subject: Re: Rusty fuel tank

Faunsdale, AL
Red Kote

I have used it on several small gasoline tanks and got some for an employee to use on a small pickup truck tank that was giving him fits. I have been pleased with the results on the small CAT pony motor tanks I have done and he sure was tickled to be done with the pickup always clogging the fuel filter and ruining the pump in the tank.

Red Kote is a solvent based system, you pour in enough to splash around, pour the excess back into the can and reseal it. It will be good when you need it again for another tank. You do need to clean the tank properly and prepare it with acetone or a good wash and dry to remove all the old crud so the stuff can stick to a good surface. You will not be happy if you depend on the stuff to seal a bunch of loose rust.

I got mine from O'Reilly autoparts. We used 2 quarts on a 15 gallon tank (Isuzu pickup) and a quart will cover several small engine tanks.
