southern MN | Been popping up like leeches around here.
I get that we have investment managers that handle retirement funds, and there are companies that manage rental properties, and so on. We get used to paying people for these management services.
They offer a service to disinterested land owners.
Trouble is they live off what I consider a high percentage of the gross, and they tend to funnel properties to their insider friends. Sorta tends to build up the IFF and Stamp Farms scenarios. I'm not saying the management places are outright dishonest, but any such business is bound to fall into a boys club mentality, just human nature.
Perhaps after a farm crisis, they would have useful work to do for a client, but in today's farm world, put a $25 classified in the paper, and you will get top dollar bids and quality operators calling you. If you are not able to filter that yourself, perhaps there would be better investments for a person, rather than throw so much of the profits to a middleman.
My opinion.
