Talking to my wife's uncle after church today who sells for a cat dealer about tractors. He said rumor is out a little of a quad track version of there articulated tractor. Anyone else here anything like that? When does the patent that case has run out?

Personally when I look at a two track system compared to a 4WD or a front wheel assist with duals and the fancy front end you would think a two track system would be cheaper to make. You only have one drive axle virsus two, you don't have the articulation which can't be cheap to make. And 8 big tires can't be much more than two tracks. So then if you look at a quad track it has to cost alot more than a two track system.

Plus you have all of the driveline loss from the transfer case and turning another differential. 2 track machines should always be more fuel efficient. But quadtracks mud really well if that's your thing.

a quad will pull hills straighter and turn way better in wet conditions. Other than cost the quad is superior. We run both. 9630T and a 9560 with ATI tracks.

Superior ?? every design has its pluses and its minuses and until the Quad-Trak system has the life expectancy of a two-track system, it clearly ain't superior. Last time I checked it was about 50% life compared to a Cat/AGCO design track system.

CaseIH is about to have some real competition. Every brand is coming with a quad in the next year or so. NH and JD have the ATI system now and Versatile is coming with one with Camoplast modules. I'm not shocked that Agco is following suit.
