Wasaga Beach, On | I am a Demco dealer but I would suggest looking into a Greentronics System, not as expensive as you would think, easy to install and operate. http://www.northernequipment.ca/#!about2/cyns

mw | I took the wheels off our old one (too heavy) and made an aluminum U-shaped drop that slides on the ground instead of digging in. I know that wasnt exactly your question, but i think you may be looking for trouble if you add too much weight.

central PA | JD, were the wheels maybe too heavy to start with, or do you feel wheels isn't the way to go? I appreciate evryone's input.

SW Ohio | From experience you do not want a spoked wheel, catches too much stuff and drags. solid rim and large as possible but light.

North Central Kansas, | Sorry no pics , but I used wheel barrow wheels from Orscheln , just used 2 angle irons on the end of the boom , pointed the angle iron down and back, left enough space to bolt the wheel inbetween the 2 angle iron. I run raven autoboom , now when the end of the boom hits the ground the auto boom will pick the boom up instead of breakaway letting the boom flip back. This is mounted on a JD 4730

SE SD | I built mine using wheelbarrow tires similar to the ones in the demco pic. I used thin wall square tubing to keep them light and strong. Had to pay attention to where they mount to keep the wheel out of the spray pattern and to clear when the boom folds. I can't tell that the little bit of weight they add hurts anything and I love the way they keep the boom out of the dirt. I've got several kitty-corner ditchs I have to cross, when I spray I just slow down across ditches and let the wheel do the work. This is on a center pivot boom.

west central Iowa | I've got an old Fast 60' 3 point boom. It had wheels that were in bad shape. I needed to get started spraying and the only thing the lacal farm store had that was close to the originals was the wheels on a rubbermaid yard cart, so I bought the whole cart and borrow the wheels off of it for spray season. They are like 20" bicycle wheels.

mw | This was on an older ritchie bestway sprayer so the booms werent made quite as well as they are now, but I added them when we started pasture spraying and could notice the bounce was more violent than it was before. This was a home-made wheel system that i didnt think was too heavy, but evidently i was wrong. I didnt care for them, but maybe its not an issue anymore with heavier built booms.

SE SD | This is on a best-way sprayer with 60 foot X-fold booms. They were about 15 feet from the end. I probably would have mounted them closer to the end but that was the only place they didn't interfere when folding. They seem to work just fine there and maybe even better than farther out to reduce the leverage they would have on the boom when they hit the ground, if you know what I mean.
