Subject: Miller Nitro 4000 series with NTB ?'s

Southern Illinois
We're throwing around the idea of a Miller Nitro with a Miller Nitrogen Toolbar. We would get the 16 Row toolbar to match the planter, What options are a must to run a NTB? does a guy need the Hi Flow Product Pump, or the Faster Hydraulic's? Would be looking at a 4240 or 4275 with 90 ft booms and 1000 or 1200 tank. Is there anything else a guy needs to watch when buying one? What do you guys who own them think about the machine? Thanks Guys

We have a 4240 and really like the machine. Have never run a nitrogen bar though. You want to be sure you get the high torgue wheel motors. If you have straight rows I would just go ahead and get the more powerful 4275.

We run a 4240ht and we really like it. I would try and find one with 275 hp engine. That is what I have, and it really could use even more on hilly ground. I don't have a NTB, but ordered my machine with the quick disconnect to easily remove the boom. I think that would be important, because I think if you don't have that you have to pull all four pins out to remove the boom. One other think you would want is the underbelly pan, that keeps all of the corn and mud out of the underside of the machine. I have the normal flow pump, it should be plenty for what you need. I was dribbling 25 gal with a 100 foot boom at like 10mph.

You need the quick attach which will cost $5000 to add if not on the machine.WE just bought a NTB for our new machine. Before that we used the 24" drops.

We run a 12 row on an older 2001 275. Custom apply about 3500 acres a year. we've had a lot of metal fatigue issues on the frame lift arms. I think most of that was due to road transport. Since we built a trailer for the NTB haven't had near the issues. Can run 50 gal/a at 12mph with no. 40 nozzles without a problem.
