It isn't that I can't weld, I have been certified 6G in the past, but I have no need for keeping the certification. Do you know what 6G even means? I can likely outfab 95% of the guys I meet. I have spent about 12 years combined in metal manufacturing and engineering, throw in a few more years in industrial maintenance. Farming all along the way.

I have built from scratch several trailers that needed to be DOT inspected before being allowed plates. Not a glitch. Does that make me smart too? I know what I learned, order a trailer with some special specs is cheaper than building one in the shop to get what you want.

I am making this a big deal because I know better, not because I don't............ Why spend a day drilling holes, buying longer bolts, steel, likely wearing out one expensive drill bit? Even if you don't pay yourself for your time you likely won't spend much more buying a riser that will correctly do the job vs the steel and bolts to cobble it up and compromise safety
