We've got both on our farm. The 12.7 & 14 liter Detroits are like comparing the Ford 7.3 and 6.0. The 12.7 is a non-emission engine and will run FOREVER, the 14 liter has the EGR system and variable geometry turbo, etc., etc. They are finicky like a 6.0 Ford. Go with the 12.7 liter, you'll be MUCH happier.
