Subject: Snow removal equipment

Central Nebraska

As many of you may remember a year ago my family moved to the farm (from our house in town).  It snowed the first night we live here and one other time last year.  Last night we got about 6-8 inches and lots of wind.  I recall not being satisfied with my snow removal process last year and need some advice.

I have a Bobcat S250 with an 88" snow bucket and an old 8' Gnuse bucket on the back of a Magnum 245.  I would like to push the snow to the south side of my yard to reduce drifting with future storms.  The skid steer has been tough to use as the snow seems to drift across the yard and get hard.  I also have a difficult time only scooping/pushing snow instead of snow and gravel/rock.

At some point I'd like to get a new 12' Gnuse bucket but was wondering about a push blade or some sort for the skid steer.  Are they useful?  Can one push a lot of snow with them?
