Texas

What are some of you paying (or charging) per hour for dozer work?  I don't usually do custom work but have been asked to do some and need to know what would be a fair rate for a CAT D7H (with a great operator!).  This job is pushing brush and rebuilding waterways.

120 an hour an up depending on how good of neighbor they are. That would be at a good pace, not pee every hour and check your FB on the bottom of the hour.

That would be $150-$175 per hour here. I hesitate to say because when I gae backhoe rates at $100, everyone thought it was high. I don't do custom dozer work. That is just what I hear

I hired a contractor this summer to do some work and it was $125.00/hour.

I don't think I'd even entertain the idea for less than 150/hour.
Price a full set of undergear for that pig, convert it to an hourly cost... then see what you think. I've only got a 4H... and it wouldn't leave here for less than 80/hour... and it's about half as much machine as you have. Around here it would cost you nearly 40-50/hour alone to keep fuel in a 7H....

local contractor just did about 3 days of work for us, with a D8R $200/hr. Did in 3 days what i though would take 4-5, but he has a seasoned veteran at the controls.

Just had a D7 here. $150/hr plus $50 mobilization charge if less than a certain number of hours. I know what it cost to fix and run them. I wouldn't consider any less/hr unless it has a green operator on it.
The guy that does our work spent $9000 on under carriage last winter and it is a similar cost at end of each season to fix and maintain.

I would not move that for less than 150 an hr. if its a small job charge at least a half day minimum.

Eastern Iowa
Iowa contractor rate averages in my SWCD are averaging $115-$140 an hour. Operator is key, there is a huge difference in what different guys can do with the same machine in an hour.

you will go broke with to days equipment by the hour. you should do only bid work, or by the foot (give a flat price). we run our dozers all out. you can get more done in 1 hour than the older dozer can in 3

I agree with bigger digger. We run d6r @ 160 hr and 8r @ 200 hr when we do hourly work which I hate because we run all out with efficient operators and my competitors get 120 for an older d6 and run in low gear all day forwards and back. It's like comparing a 4020 to a same horsepower mfwd newer jd with all the bells and whistles. Yeah the 4020 is a good ole horse but which ya gonna get more done with.
