Edgeley, ND | Thanks to all of you I appreciate the ideas I have not thought of. The main one being that we were also in an edtreme area. We recieved a toal of 6.18 of precip during the growing season so that may affect my readings compared to the last 2 seasons when we were almost double of the normal 19 inches of precip. I am farming the rented land on more of a removal program as compared to a build and maintainance fertility but still test each fall on the first week of November to remove that variable even though my cores arent from the exact same coordinates each year. I agree that the tissue test may be a better report card and I also do some of that also but still like to see if my soil can tell me how I have been doing. I sm one of the first farmers in the area to do any liming as midwest usualy calls for 2 to 3 thousand pounds on my tests. I also did grid sampling on one quarter this fall for the first time | |
