What do you find Dubious about it? I am just a trader/investor. So I am stuck paying the lofty rates the US gives me regardless :)

Nothing that I stated is illegal or 'shady' at all for a farmer? It is standard operating procedure. (not complaining about that at all either) Just questioning the double standard of complaining about having to do a couple hours work and they can in theory avoid years of capital gains on assets (as can non farmers) But they have other options at their disposal to mitigate tax rates as well.

But buying equipment/depreciating up front, rolling grain, etc... None of that is illegal, or 'shady'.. Its loopholes that have been in place for along time.
