I rent houses out too and its too early to say if you have a good renter or not. You sure don't want to lose a good renter. I wouldn't take it off the rent, though. I would have him give you the reciept for the dishwasher, you pay him for the dishwasher. Then he pays the rent in full. If you have him subtract it from the rent, he might find something else to replace in the house. It's best to have them form a habit of paying the rent in full, each month, and on time, so I wouldn't try to confuse them.
Oh, and tell him next time if something major goes wrong, you will handle it all yourself. | |
