I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Like I told Dave I would tissue sample and see if anything is out of line.

That has little to do with OM decreasing though, good answers above.

I have seen mine slowly creep up over 9 years but a little faster when increased cover crops. My soil has low CEC and can only digest so much organic material. Turning organic material into soil organic matter is a very slow process. It would be easy to burn off more than you store, even in notill, thus my lack of over worry on your problem. I would be concerned if I am really going backward instead of slowly increasing organic matter levels. That would tell me I could be doing something a little bit better.

In your case, we have no idea what that exactly is.
