Martinsville, Ohio | I have raised 100 bu winter barley here and I assume you could too. Fertilize similar to wheat. Ogle was the old standby here but Thoroughbred has taken its place. Like wheat, there are no hybrids because barley is also is a perfect self pollinating plant. You can feed or bed the straw, it is in good demand here. I wouldn't use it for a nurse crop but you could. It comes off a few days ahead of the earliest wheat.
