Iowa | Assuming this is just a normal homework project and not something like a final grade, kid might as well learn life isn't fair.
I was a "terrible" parent. Always told my kids, anytime they felt they got "shafted" by a teacher, from the time they were little, that life isn't fair--"you deal with it". (Now, if they were being berated, belittled or abused, I'd have been there as fast as possible, but that never was the case as far as I know.) Guess what? They grew up, learned how to adjust/fight their own battles, and are doing well.
Those kids whose parents always had to get involved during each and every "situation"--most haven't really grown up--still need their parents to "fix" things for them, whether they're 19 or 40.
