Centre county Pennsylvania, USA | We've been farming corn and beans in central PA for many years. In years past it was not unusual to loose 15% of annual crop sales to deer and woodchucks. Recently the coyotes have showed up in significant numbers and our bean crop loss to woodchucks have virtually vanished. We hear them every night and often see them hunting bean field edges during the day. Coyotes are now protected species year around on our farms, deer and woodchucks have no closed season. Crop loss to wildlife has significantly decreased since the coyotes moved in. They can live and hunt on our farms forever,if they wish. |
