While it is rare for a cow to get an LDA mid-lactation, it is even more rare for a cow to get milk fever mid-lactation. Even a Jersey.

Of course cows can have manure with an LDA. The manure can be normal, dry, runny, scant.....it doesn't always tell you much. Pinging is the gold standard.

Cold ears doesn't always tell you much. Ear temps can change every 10 minutes.

I agree, check for mastitis. I assume (I know what that makes me) that someone checked for that.
