I always enjoy reading your posts, it seems that we remind each other of memories. Your comment about feeding the skim milk to the hogs reminded me of an early summer long ago.
As my sisters had gotten older, the oldest had started a family and the next oldest was at college. We didn't go through the milk at home and selling milk had gotten a little more difficult. Dad decided to feed the left over milk along with ground hog feed to a group of broilers my Mom was raising. I have never seen anything gain like those chickens put it on. They were ready way ahead of schedule and they were some of the tastiest birds I can ever recall. We fed them in a trough made from an old pressure tank cut in two lengthwise. I can still see those broilers diving into that mash, they loved it. Ah, memories! | |
