s nd | I'd tell your son the risks of the dog getting hit on the road outweighs the benefits of having an animal tied up or fenced in. Tell him we are responsible for doing our best to teach them and protect them, but animals are going to die now and then. Be sympathetic, but objective. Maybe tell kids the time you or your dad had to put an animal down for the sake of the animal. Teachable moments to turn him into a man.
