Junk a 9500 that needs 7k on the drivetrain? Maybe because it's not a 9600.... Those maximizers will still be running when the 80 and 90 series are all dead. Scrap price must be pretty darn good for scrap/parts combines to offset that.
Still a good bit of life left in that engine in my mind. Does it have any of the electronic upgrades (10 series I believe)? What is a used hydrostat worth? Maybe it's dishonest, but I wouldn't be afraid to put used parts in it, stick in a larger auction(RB, Purple Wave, etc.), and try to put a reserve on it?
Maybe I'm a cheap ass but for what I've heard of that series... they're not something to shy away from.
