Subject: RE: beans after alfalfa

EC Nebraska
It's been years since we've had alfalfa, but my Dad and Grandpa always said that beans were the best crop after alfalfa. I know they planted beans after breaking the last alfalfa we ever had. The beans looked good to my teenage self, but I don't remember anything about yields. soybeans like calcium and alfalfa uses a lot of it, so I would check that and consider lime or gypsum if it's low.
I'd second the insecticide for any crop after breaking out perennial stands.
